Asked why gas anaesthesia is not widely used in India, a Delhi zoo official said the main reason was lack of infrastructure. Gas anaesthesia is primarily used for sedating cats and dogs, and the training, in which more than 30 vets are participating, is a step forward towards employing it for wildlife in Indian zoos, Delhi zoo director Renu Singh said. The training is being conducted by experts from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, Washington, DC. Budhan S. “For instance, in case of bigger animals, using (inhaled or) gas anaesthesia can be tricky as you should be able to get the animals’ accurate weight and ready the equipment accordingly to monitor their movements,” he said.” The physiologist said gas anaesthesia is rarely used in Indian zoos and veterinarians in the country lack adequate training in this method.”

The National Zoological Park, the official name for the Delhi zoo, recently procured its first gas anaesthesia machine. The Delhi zoo director said the training will come handy for the staff in giving best care to the inmates. “As zoo keepers, we often face challenging situations in terms of various zoonotic diseases.“Gas anaesthesia is just another way of sedating animals, but it is a safer option as injectable drugs may interfere with the medication an animal is already on. A hand injection might also oppress breathing or blood circulation of animals,” he said. Besides ensuring the safety of animals, Pukazhenthi explained, using an inhaled (gas) anaesthetic device also gives more flexibility and confidence to the vets. The Delhi zoo director said the training will come handy for the staff in giving best care to the inmates.clinicians.. PDP spokesman Rafi Ahmad Mir admitted later that the timing of the move had been a surprise but added it wasn’t altogether unexpected: "We tried our best to run the government with the BJP.Mr Madhav justified the move to end the alliance by saying: "Terrorism and violence have increased in the Valley and radicalisation is fast spreading. While the BJP successfully made a scapegoat out of the PDP and Ms Mufti, by taking the PDP out of the equation, the ball now lies squarely in the ruling BJP’s court.This suggests an ever-widening political divide between the Valley and the rest of the country.. The outgoing chief minister remains sceptical and in her post-resignation press conference pointedly remarked that a more "muscular policy" would not work in Kashmir. Yet, this is the principal reason being offered for the BJP’s divorce with the PDP.Whether this will douse the flames in the Valley or fan it remains to be seen. Toeing her line, however, had become anathema to a section of the ruling side in the national capital, which felt the alliance in Kashmir was costing the BJP nationally. Mehbooba Mufti, the outgoing chief minister and head of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, unceremoniously dethroned by her alliance partner, the BJP, was an advocate of a "soft" approach towards the unrest in the Kashmir Valley. He called a meeting of the party’s top honchos from the state on June 19, and is reported to have implied that the party was politically bleeding due to Kashmir and hence the coalition had to be wound up immediately."Ms Mufti as chief minister might not have been the most competent or politically effective from New Delhi’s point of view, but to blame her for the deteriorating law and order situation in the Valley is not entirely fair." Senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar remarked that poles could never meet, while expressing satisfaction on their government not having compromised on its core issues or positions on Article 370, Article 35A and the Kathua rape-murder case. The wheel has turned yet again.The politically-canny BJP president, Amit Shah, seemed to have decided that enough was enough. Politics in J&K, however, would suffer in the long term as the existing regional divide within the state is bound to further widen and reach a point where it might be impossible to cobble together a future government or an alliance now that the BJP-PDP experiment has proved a miserable failure.The denouement in the Valley, far from generating any satisfaction, should only evoke a sense of déjà vu.The abrupt, and somewhat unexpected, end of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir signals the triumph of the hardline view in New Delhi.The government’s move for a unilateral Ramzan ceasefire and olive branch to the separatists were red rags to the hardliners, who felt the security forces had been let down while the Valley’s rebellious population, specially militants and stone-pelters, were being pampered. A buffer between a discontented Valley population and a militarised administration is always a necessary, though not sufficient, condition for the political resolution of any conflict.

The absence of a buffer can only exacerbate tensions and delay the possibility of a resolution. The present governor alone has the distinction of assuming control of the state four times during his watch.The demise of a civilian government in J&K cannot be a good thing.New Delhi could be content to play defensively on the external front as the general election would be a far bigger priority. While the Valley’s population believes that they are being subjected to repression or arm-twisting by the Indian state, the mainstream mood across the country points to impatience and dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Kashmir conflict is being handled. Ms Mufti therefore had to go. This had to happen.At the same time, the political bosses of the BJP in New Delhi, cannot entirely be blamed for considering it untenable to wait indefinitely for a political resolution that the PDP clearly was not in a position to bring about. Minutes later, the BJP’s pointsman on Kashmir, Ram Madhav, convened a press conference to announce the decision to end the coalition experiment in the state. Vohra was all the courtesy she was afforded. The BJP, Mr Vohra told her, had withdrawn support to her government, and instantly accepted her resignation as it was offered. Then there’s the steering, there’s no other way to put this but it takes effort to drive this car. The steering feels light to maneuver in the city and decently weighted at higher speeds. So every big pothole sends a prominent judder through the car as it recovers from the impact.High level of comfort. The shifts are decent but tend to feel spongy, plus the gearbox seems to have no sense of urgency to it and throws are long too.

What We Don’t: Lack of rear parking sensors. Yes, the BR-V is expensive, with the top of the line VX diesel (the one you see here) priced at Rs 12. So where is lacks in equipment it makes up for in sheer utility and not to forget, it comes with dual airbags as standard across the range.Despite the size the cabin feels cramped. Of course, the bigger deal is that Honda is offering the BR-V with a 6-speed gearbox

The key quality of a great storyteller is his or her ability to have the reader rooting for a character that the latter despises in real life. So much so that the opponents of capitalism who should per se be rooting for Wesley Mouch, director at the Bureau of Economic Planning and National Resources, cannot help but miss out that Mr Mouch is the real hero and not John Galt.But that perhaps is a key strength of Atlas Shrugged, a novel by Ayn Rand; you may not agree with her philosophy of objectivism, but the story is, if nothing else, compelling. Note that a pure free market is a mythical construct while a completely state-controlled economy has empirically proven to be a disaster.By arrangement with Dawn. As an example, fellow Pakistanis cheering the hero of an Indian spy thriller movie has always been pretty irksome; don’t they realise that the bad guy, explicitly or implicitly, is a Pakistani! Economic reasons aside, this is another good reason to ban Indian cinema. It’s one thing to look like a prince, it’s quite another to be one in a tell-all by your ex-wife, in which you’re shown up for the frog that you are. And, unforgivably, a miscarriage that Jemima had and was very upset about. While taking considerable pains to cast herself as a feminist battler, she thinks nothing of maligning a number of women. I won’t repeat what she says here, but she certainly names and — gratuitously — details their private, sexual history with Imran Khan as well as other people. But the question is, what does it add up to? Not very much. The first half of the book, about her first marriage, makes for far better reading because there’s much more psychological depth in her analysis of it.Anupama Chandra is a film editor and bibliophile. Reham, on the other hand, is careful to describe her own unquestionable piety, unwavering faith in the tenets of the Quran and her devotion to her marriage. He laughs at her naivety, or explodes in rage. I tried to follow, but lost interest soon, coming away with the usual subcontinental tale of favours for gifts and gifts for favours. She spent over 15 years with Ijaz Rehman after all. I felt quite bad for Reham here. Leaving out flowers for her.. While we face-palm, she innocently asks her husband what it is that jar sitting in the bedside drawer. And, in the hands of a better editor, it might have been. If all that’s true, I feel bad for her too — married to a depraved narcissist, when she wanted a saint. Reham is unsparing and nothing escapes her notice: His awful table manners, his disgusting bathroom habits, his badly-kept house, his horrible father and sisters, his long-suffering mother, his vicious dog, his terrible, terrible ex-wife (Jemima, who has also threatened Reham Khan with libel), his cynical politics, his sycophantic hangers-on, his ignorance of just about everything, his jealousy and suspicion.Reham spends a long time discovering things in drawers — joints, packets of white powder and tubes of KY jelly.

His tenderness for his children. The only reason I mention this here is that I was appalled by Reham Khan’s insensitivity in disclosing it to the world.But there are some undeniably bitchy bits she lets slip in, for which, I believe, she must indeed be sued. The book needed analysis and reflection, a toning down of the urge to disclose "everything" in order to lay before the world, as she’s claimed her motive to have been, what kind of man the current Prime Minister of Pakistan is. It’s little more than a list of Imran Khan’s caster wheels Manufacturers failings and sins, often with incredibly minor events recounted to illustrate major character flaws. Though, in my opinion, she sinks to her lowest when she criticises his children with Jemima, comparing them unfavourably to her own. But her memoir will haunt him for a while.I’m sure a lot of this might well be true.Imran Khan has been getting very good press since he became Prime Minister, and interest in Reham Khan’s book seems to have waned for now. His friendship with Jemima, in spite of it all. And — something I truly empathised with — his terror of lizards.. But then, despite herself, Reham does paint in a few rosier shades.But then, I also felt bad for Imran Khan.A number of reviews have called Reham Khan’s book brave. It is really no business of hers at all.

Anti-dumping duty has also been imposed by the Government on "flat base steel wheels" originating in or exported from China in September, 2018 for five years.The Auto Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) has written to Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu observing that "domestic manufacturers are facing difficulties in order to compete and continue a sustainable business model due to subsidy given by the Chinese government and thus making import favourable"..The ACMA had earlier sought inclusion of alloy wheels used in two-wheelers under the ongoing sunset review investigation. Further it will strengthen the Make in India initiative curbing such high number of imports," the auto component industry body said.India is the largest manufacturer of two-wheelers in the world.The Directorate General of Foreign Trade in consultation with the administrative ministry considers the request from the industry for prescribing MIP on import of specific goods.
